Rainbow Trout Flyfishing the Lemhi River in Idaho |
|
Our Rainbow trout fly fishing is generally good thru-out the season from the Memorial Day weekend opener thru October with the very best fly fishing being at opportunistic times during the day and evenings generally associated with weather patterns and insect hatches.

For wild, native Rainbow Trout this portion of the Lemhi has some of the best in the country. The river is small and winding with undercut banks at every turn and thick willows on both sides along the way. Fish from 16" to 24" are in every deep pocket and pool and under the willow overhangs.
Depending on insect hatches, most of the fishing is dry flies with hoppers proving most effective. For those rare occasions when the fish won't take a dry fly, streamers work well.
